So to bring a true Google-free Chrome, a developer named Eloston has come up withUngoogled Chromium, an open-source project that rips all the Google dependencies from Chromium. It has removed all the Google-made binaries, codes related to Google services, and more from the browser. So if you are privacy-conscious and don’t want Google to access your data, here’s a guide on how to install Ungoogled Chromium on yourWindows, macOS, or Linux PC.

1.Open the GitHub pageof Ungoogled Chromium anddownload the setup filebased on your PC architecture.

  1. You canfind your PC architectureby right-clicking on “My PC” and opening the “Properties” window. Here, look forSystem type. For example, I am using a 64-bit computer.

  2. Now, click on theEXE fileand download it.

You need toopen this pageand follow the instructions toinstall Chrome extensions on this Google-free Chromium browser. This instruction applies to macOS and Linux as well.

1.Open this pageand download the Ungoogled Chromium build for your Mac. It offers thelatest DMG buildfor both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.

  1. Next, run the DMG file and Ungoogled Chromium will be added to theApplication Directory.

  2. Now,open the browser, and there you have it. Ungoogled Chromium works perfectly fine on macOS as well. You can also follow steps #5 and #6 from the Windows section to unlock some essential features.

  3. Just like the above section, you need tohead over to this pageand download the Ungoogled Chromium build for yourspecific Linux Distro. It supports almost all theLinux distributions, including Ubuntu, Debian, Manjaro, Arch Linux, and more.

  4. Now, run the program depending on thetype of packageyou have downloaded. For example, I tested the AppImage Linux build on my Chromebook that has a Debian Linux container. And the best part is that it worked like a charm!
